Frequently Asked Questions
-
• What are your rates? Our rates depend on a few factors, but in general terms, computer and network support services are $69/hour and server services are $79/hour. We offer a comprehensive server management package for $199/month, and managed IT services packages can be as low as $49 per PC. To get a better idea of what our services will cost, contact us and we will work within your budget to find the best solution for your specific needs.
• Do you have any references? Yes we do! You can read our customer testimonials here, or visit our third-party review websites here or here. If you would like to talk with some of our current customers, we will be happy to have some contact you after our consultation.
• What Antivirus products do you suggest? We suggest Avast! Antivirus solutions for organizations with just a few PC's, or that would like a centralized managed solution for larger networks. If you have 10+ PC's and don't need centralized management, the "best bang for your buck" solution is Norton Antivirus in a 10 license pack for @ $150. You can pick this up locally at Fry's or through an online retailer.
• What do you think of Windows Vista? Windows Vista got a pretty bad reputation early on, but it turned out to be a decent OS. Fortunately Microsoft resolved most of the issues with Windows 7.
• What do you think of Windows 7? Windows 7 is a much better OS than XP and Vista from just about any angle. We believe that Windows 7 will be around for a while (not as long as XP though!) so if you had been waiting to purchase new PC's for your organization, now is a good time.
• What is the best Backup solution? It all depends on the amount of data you have and the system you want to back up. For PC's, Carbonite offers unlimited data backup for $55 annually, which is pretty good. For servers with less than 30 gigabytes of data, we like MozyPro. MozyPro is especially good for the Small Business Server since it can backup SQL and Exchange databases. If you have more than 30 gigabytes of data, an external hard drive rotation would probably be the way to go.
• Is a Microsoft Windows Small Business Server a serious business product? We hear this a lot, and yes, it definitely is. Windows Small Business Server is basically a Windows Server Standard Edition with Exchange, SharePoint, and Remote Web Workplace included for less than the price of a Windows Server Standard license. The only major limitation for the SBS is the number of users you can have. If you have less than 75 employees now and into the foreseeable future, it is a great way to go.
• Are you certified on my product? That depends. Our technicians are certified on Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, and possess general certifications such as CompTIA's A+ and Network+ for workstations and networks.
